EDIT: Okay, I think I've found the problem. You have to copy and paste the RGSS102E.dll file (it's in the folder) into this folder:
C:\Windows\system32\

Just copy the addy into your folder browser and it'll take you there. after pasing the .dll file into that folder it should work.




ALL RIGHT so I have the opening bit of my game idea done in RPG Maker XP. The idea where one of the central themes is to not do everything on the Grand List of RPG Cliches. Including, spoilers, the fact that the hero will have NO love interest whatsoever outside of fandom.

Unfortunatley the 30 day trial ran out today so it's only the introduction through to the discovery of the problem. So I suppose this would be the demo of the game.

There's a lot of things that got rushed at the end. Dialog needs polishing and there's supposed to be a blackout in the second to last scene, you'll know it when you see it, and so on. But you'll get the idea for the feel of the game.

All you have to do is unzip the game folder wherever you like and then click on the little orange icon to start the game. Let me know if you're interested in where it's going!

You know what I hate most about Twilight? You know, besides all of it?

If Bella was paired with Jacob then it would have actually been kind of sweet. Still not anything to light the world on fire (and I will NEVER understand how it has) but hey, I'd read a fluffy snugglefic or two. Best friends make the cutest literary couples.

Think about it. Most of my dislike for Bella is the fact that she allows Edward to abuse her. If she was with Jacob she'd still be a cardboard cutout but she'd be a far less irritating cardboard cutout. Wolfboy could heroically rescue her from the thrall of the villainous vampire. Very damsel in distress, probably still very bland, but it wouldn't be all that bad.

Then again this is the woman who can't even keep her own characters straight. Jacob falling in love with their hellchild when it was two days old reads like something out of a bad, extremely OOC fanfic.

This is a long one, hoo boy. After all this time with tiny glimpses at the actual plot the game suddenly vomits up exposition in the course of 15 minutes.

I try not to put my political leanings up here, mostly because that usually results in someone frothing at the mouth in rage because I'm gay and I'm not a die hard liberal, but this is getting serious.




As previous journal entries have said, I just got surgery for possible endometriosis and to correct a painful recurring ingrown nail. Neither of these are life threatening, and given that a clot that would cause a woman to starve to death is considered elective, do you think I would have ever gotten on the waiting list at all?

My mom had a hysterectomy this summer. Her endometriosis was so bad that it was causing menstrual flow so heavy it felt as though she was peeing. Her last period lasted for almost three months, and the only thing that stopped the blood loss was getting her uterus removed. Even with an iron supplement she was losing ground in the anemia department. Her surgery would have been considered elective as well. Would it have come before she passed out at the top of some stairs or while she was behind the wheel? She certainly wouldn't have been able to schedule it for the summer so she wouldn't miss any time in her job as a teacher.

What about when my dad had a %96 blockage in an artery in his heart? He waited a day before getting the test that confirmed his condition, and that was extremely out of the ordinary to wait that long. While he waited he was put in a room and given a bed, not forced to sit in the waiting room. Once they had the results he was put into the next available operating room and they did a quadruple bypass.

If we lived in the system that Obama wants, I would have been flying back from college to go to my father's funeral.

I actually put a lot of effort into finding more broke->Baroque quotes for the title but they were all way too long. Though this one was very fitting considering the context of the game: Life is an unbroken succession of false situations.

ANYWAY another part of this cracked out game. I admit that it is growing on me since finding Tag's character hiding in The Horned Girl. However the frustration levels sent me to GameFAQs, something I never do before I've played through a game once. Now, there's a lot of talk about consciousness orbs and so far as gameplay goes if I throw something at them then it gets transported up to the surface. According to the FAQ they're everywhere and they show up on the map, but the only thing marked on the map is the level exit and I've not yet seen anything stand out as an orb. I'll look harder on my next round with the insanity.

The FAQ also clued me into something I hadn't thought of: shooting the surface dwellers with the Angelic Rifle. Now, the rifle can take out any meta-being in the dungeon with one hit, but it only has 5 shots. I don't know what kind of crazy will erupt when I start shooting the citizens but we'll see next time. Apparently they also say different things when you hit them with a sword (I've only had Tag punch them) so we'll look into that as well. There's a voice collecting feature (apparently) where the more lines you get everyone to say the more artwork you get to look at. Or something. The FAQ isn't exactly clear or well laid out.

Hey still doing these. These are things that could be used specifically on forums as replies and such.

Well, the tissue wasn't there. While this is good in terms of recovery and getting back to school on Thursday, it's irritating in that the cramps aren't something that can be immediately helped. Apparently my lady parts just hate me. So I'll be talking with my GYN about more birth control options to help control that. The shot I'm on now helped for a while, but I think that the stress of work being stupid, and the possibility of facing the N* backstabbers at con, pushed everything over the edge.

However the higher ups at work are starting to figure out that cutting everyone's hours to non-existence is a bad idea, and in my case my asst. manager Darren jumped on making sure my schedule is fixed after I told him I probably wasn't going to stick around. I always get my work done and then I help out other departments voluntarily, so he doesn't want to lose me. Still not sure if it'll fall into 'too little, too late' since I've been asking for more than 20 hours a week all summer, particularly during the height of Back to School, and never got it. And thus why it's extra hard to pay for books and tuition this semester. However the job market here sucks so if they're going to give me 8 hours a day when I can work then I'll stick around.

As for N* I'm working Afest weekend so that's been put off to Ikkicon. Maybe Akon depending on how tuition and books pan out for spring semester. I'm sure that no matter how much time goes by my psycho ex is still going to go at me with his venom and I'd love to see the rest of them insist that my regretting dating him is just me lashing out. And justify their threads in which they planned how to best destroy me at con. However they're bent on self destruction so maybe they'll fall apart by then and I won't have to deal it.

ANYWAY my foot is currently the major source of sore. Whenever I stand up and then sit back down it throbs, but it's getting better. Driving to school on Thursday will probably be less than fun but once I get to school I'll be able to take my pain pills (can't drive with them) and I'll be able to deal. I'll just have to get up a little earlier since I'll be moving slower with the boot on. The stomach is actually not that bad. Still hurts a little when I laugh or when I bend to put my boot on or get in and out of bed, but it's not bad.

Here we are at the second installment of this game's disjointed review. I'd actually like to start out by properly highlighting the things this game actually does REALLY well.

Though for the record I'm tired of typing out Protagonist when it doesn't even really mean anything, so I'm going to chop off a few syllables and call him Tag from now on.

So yesterday I bought this game called Baroque for the PS2. The sole reason I was interested in this game was because I really like the architecture of the Baroque period and hey it was on sale. Once I got the game I flipped through the booklet to see what flavor of RPG I'd just purchased.

The basic story is predictable: Something Bad Happened and now everything is crap, and of course it's up to you to save everything! Then the religious mallet starts swinging with the Order of Malkuth, who's symbol is a Christian cross with an extra leg that just looks REALLY tacked on. What's more the members of the Order all wear wings, though at least not all of them are feathered. The size of your penis wings indicates how high your rank is. However it gets interesting when it turns out that the belief isn't that God is going to save them, but rather that they need to save God. So hey, at least the game has novely if nothing else, right?

Then I find out that the main character has total amnesia and is a canon mute.

OH DEAR.
